Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, Ascendum acts as a data controller for the information described below, and as a processor where we handle data on a client's instructions during an engagement.

• Enquiry data: your name, email address, country, service interest and the content of your message.
• Engagement data: information required to deliver professional services, which can include tax identification numbers, financial records, payroll data, identity documents and beneficial ownership details.
• Payment data: billing details processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and pages viewed, collected through server logs and analytics.
• Cookie data: as described in our cookie policy.
• Assistant data: messages you send to the website assistant, retained only to answer your question and improve the assistant.

• To respond to enquiries and provide quotes — performance of a contract or steps taken at your request.
• To deliver tax, payroll, accounting, advisory and registration services — performance of a contract.
• To meet anti-money-laundering, client due diligence, tax and professional record-keeping obligations — legal obligation.
• To secure the website, prevent fraud and maintain service quality — legitimate interests.
• To send occasional practice updates where you have asked for them — consent, withdrawable at any time.

We share personal information only where it is necessary: with the Ascendum divisions delivering your engagement; with revenue authorities and registries where a filing requires it; with our hosting, database, email, analytics and payment providers acting under contract; and with professional advisers, insurers or regulators where we are required or permitted to do so. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

We operate in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Australia, and information may be processed in any of them. Where data leaves the UK, the EEA or another region with transfer restrictions, we rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent lawful transfer mechanism, together with contractual confidentiality obligations on every recipient.

Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are kept for up to 24 months. Engagement records, working papers and filings are kept for at least seven years, or longer where a tax authority, professional body or statute requires it. Website logs are kept for up to 12 months.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, to receive a portable copy, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other US states with privacy statutes have equivalent rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise a right, email corp@ascencorp.com. We respond within the period the applicable law allows, normally 30 days, and may need to verify your identity first.

The site is served over TLS. Client documents and enquiry records are held in access-controlled systems with role-based permissions, encryption at rest and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires it.

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 other than where a client engagement requires details of a dependant for a tax filing.

We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date above shows the current version. Material changes will be notified on this page before they take effect.
